Bookmaker suspends bets on Kim Min-Jae to Manchester United amid transfer could spell the end for Harry Maguire

A leading bookmaker has suspended betting on Kim Min-Jae’s proposed transfer to Manchester United.

Betfair received a flurry of bets on the South Korean defender landing at Old Trafford this summer after speculation of his future intensified.

Manchester United are closely monitoring Kim Min-Jae

The 26-year-old centre-back played a leading role in helping Napoli end their 33-year wait for a Serie A title this season but looks set to leave after just one season at the club.

He clocked up 36 appearances for the Neopolitans, scoring twice on their way to the Scudetto.

Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be monitoring Kim’s movements this summer but United have been mostly linked with him.

Kim’s rise to prominence has come quickly after spending just two years in European football.

Following a two-year stint in the Chinese Super League with Beijing Guoan, Kim signed for Turkish giants Fenerbahce for around £2.5million.

Napoli splashed out £15.5m for his services last summer and could be set for a windfall after his impressive season in Italy.

His arrival at Old Trafford could spell the end for Harry Maguire. Maguire has been used in a bit-part role under boss Erik ten Hag who has settled on Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his first-choice defensive pairing.

Kim’s arrival could signal the end of Harry Maguire’s time at Old Trafford

Despite falling down the pecking order, Maguire held on to his starting place for England at the World Cup in Qatar.

However, it remains to be seen whether Gareth Southgate continues to opt for the Manchester United skipper when the Three Lions take on Malta
