Five Nigerian artists, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Asake, and Ayra Starr, have received nominations for the prestigious 2023 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

Burna Boy, a Grammy award winner, has been recognized in four categories, including Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Video Director of the Year, Viewer’s Choice, and Best International Act.



Wizkid, who won the ‘Best Collaboration’ award in 2022, has been nominated in the same category this year for his song ‘Call Me Everyday,’ featuring the American superstar Chris Brown.


Tems, another Grammy-winning artist, has earned nominations for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Viewers Choice.


Asake and Ayra Starr have both secured nominations as well, albeit in a single category each. Asake will compete in the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act category, while Ayra Starr will go head-to-head with Burna Boy in the Best International Act category.



The 2023 BET Awards will be broadcast LIVE on BET on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT.
