Erling Haaland may be regarded as the top goal-getter in England, but a striker by the name of Leon Lobjoit might say otherwise.

The 28-year-old is currently playing for Leighton Town in step five of the National League system.
He tore up the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division by scoring a remarkable 60 goals in 50 games.
Former MK Dons, Coventry, Northampton and QPR youngster Lobjoit helped Leighton to earn promotion to SPL Division One Central, something that wouldn’t have been possible with his crucial goals.
Speaking on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, he was asked if he knew he was in for a big season, to which he said: “To be fair, I did.

“We had a good gaffer come in [Lee Bircham], he got me a new pair of boots because of my goalscoring so I’m very proud of that! He’s great and not many managers would do that.”

Remarkably, the 60-goal tally isn’t even Lobjoit’s best, revealing: “I got 62 goals at Buckingham Town but that was a step below in step 6, so this was my best season, I’d say.”
What made the 28-year-old’s remarkable tally even more impressive was a nasty fracture to his eye socket that threatened to end his campaign on the measly total of 58 for the season.
However the striker defied doctors orders to return to the team for the final matches of the season, with fans cheering him on with the light-hearted chant of: “He’s only got one eye”.
Discussing the injury, he said: “It was two to three weeks ago I went in for a tackle and ended up getting headbutt in the eye. I went to the hospital and they told me that I took a fracture in the eye.

“They told me it should be six-eight weeks that I shouldn’t be playing, but I was on 58 goals and I needed to get them two goals!

“Obviously I’d had my 62-goal season so I wanted to be in the 60s for the season.“In the last game I had a mask on, the one before that I only came on for 20 minutes and so I didn’t use one which was silly of me really!”

Of course all eyes (no pun intended) are on Haaland and his quest to finish the season with as many goals as possible. The Manchester City striker already has 51 goals in all competitions, with another nine to go if he’s going to be Lobjoit’s remarkable tally.
The Leighton Town star said: “I know he’s going to beat it! He’s outstanding, a beast. I don’t think there’s anyone who can match him or even defend against him.
“He’s great. He’s the perfect forward, isn’t he? He’s big, he’s tall, he’s strong and powerful and he’s just got an eye for goal. Everything that he does is perfect.”
