SPORT– Man Utd defender hails Benzema as he leaves Real Madrid

Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane, has paid tribute to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema after the 35-year-old left Real Madrid.

Varane and Benzema were former teammates at Real Madrid between 2011 and 2021.

Benzema played his last game for Los Blancos against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday and will soon join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad.

In a heartfelt message for his compatriot, Varane wrote on Instagram (via Manchester Evening News):

“Goals, memories, trophies and respect. One word above all… Legend. Good luck in your next chapter, frérot [iron] @karimbenzema.”

Benzema won 25 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League trophies, during his time at Real Madrid
