MTV Europe Music Awards has created a new category, Best Afrobeats, and the inaugural nominees are Aya Nakamura, Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido and Rema.

Also, Rema has been nominated for Best Song and Best Collaboration for his song, "Calm Down", with Selena Gomez.
Best Live Performer category has Burna Boy up against global superstars, including Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.
