Should we believe what we think is true? The Power of Critical Thinking: Why Questioning Your Mind Can Lead to Greater Clarity and Insight. - MirrorLog

Our brains predict the outcomes of our actions based on what we've already experienced, not what is most likely to be true.

Although, these guesses can be really helpful in some situations, like when we're playing a game and we can guess what the other person might do next. But sometimes, though, our guesses aren't quite right. This can leave us with a less accurate view of the world and shape our realities to fit what we already expect/believe.

That's why it's important to keep an open mind and not just believe what we think is true. We can try to look for clues and evidence to make sure we really understand what's happening. By doing this, we can ensure we have a more accurate view of the world.

When we use critical thinking, we question our own beliefs and look for evidence to support them. This helps us avoid being tricked by fake news or people who want to trick us. We can also solve problems more easily and make better choices.

To be good at critical thinking (thinking skills), we need to be curious and willing to learn new things. We can practice by listening carefully to different opinions and trying to understand why people think that way. We can also ask questions and look for evidence to support our ideas. By using critical thinking, we can be smarter and make better decisions.
