Imagine you're in a really hot desert, where the sun is shining very strongly. Sometimes, it can rain in the desert, but because it's so hot, something interesting happens. As the rain falls from the clouds and comes closer to the ground, the air around the ground is even hotter than the rain itself!

Now, think about what happens when you pour water onto a hot surface like a hot pan. The water quickly turns into steam and disappears, right? Well, something similar happens in the hot desert. The raindrops get so hot when they come close to the ground that they quickly turn into invisible steam. This means that the rain never actually reaches the ground, and it looks like it's disappearing into thin air!

It's a fascinating sight to see because it looks like rain is falling from the sky, but it never makes it to the ground. This happens in certain really hot desert places where the air is very dry.

Even though the rain doesn't reach the ground, it still helps in some ways, like adding moisture to the air.
