40 couple about to participate in mass wedding tested positive for HIV
A spokesman for the Kano State Hisbah Board has revealed that at least 40 couples scheduled to be wed as part of a mass wedding have tested positive for HIV, hepatitis B, sickle cell, and pregnancy.
The spokesman, Lawan Fagge, explained that the couples were screened ahead of the mass wedding and were found to have health issues that disqualified them from participating.
Fagge noted that the couples had since been replaced by other candidates as the mass wedding exercise was ongoing.
A mass wedding, or mass wedding ceremony, is a wedding ceremony in which multiple couples are married simultaneously.
