Adeleke’s plane engines may have been tampered with — Aide - MirrorLog

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that the near crash which he and some of his aides were involved in may have been as a result of the engines of the aircraft being tampered with.

The governor spoke while confirming the incident in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday.

Governor and his aides, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, escaped an aircraft accident when the private jet owned by billionaire businessman, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, caught fire at take-off point at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos.

Reacting to reports of the accident, Rasheed disclosed that birds could not have made nests on the aircraft as it is well maintained.

He said, “Contrary to the claim by the hanger owner that birds’ nests caused the incident, birds’ nests are made with straws not bidding wires as in this case.

“The near fatal incident was averted shortly after boarding and less than two minutes after the commencement of taxing on the tarmac.

“An early warning noise from the engines immediately prompted the pilots to direct the evacuation of the passengers. Everything happened within five minutes.

“Early reports from the internal investigation indicated sabotage. But the authorities, locally and internationally, are still investigating the incident.”

Olawale, while assuring the public that Adeleke and his aides were safe, also expressed appreciation to well wishers and supporters who have been calling since the report of the incident became public knowledge.

Attempts were made to keep the aircraft incident from the public domain
